Details

The Vegecat™ supplement frees cats from slaughterhouse products and has been in production since 1986. Home prepared, vegan, Vegecat™ meals allow you to eliminate the toxicity of meat-based food and commercial food while providing all your cat needs to be healthy and thrive. Vegecat™ supplements ship with a recipe brochure that contains semi-moist food recipes as well as dry kibble recipes. The Vegecat™ diet provides complete vegan nutrition for your feline family member.

Most cats are fine with the Vegecat™ supplement but 10% of all cats are prone to urinary problems and those cats are better served with the Vegecat phi™ supplement containing a safe urine acidifier. In most cases, using Vegecat™ along with VegeYeast (an especially acid food yeast that supplies B vitamins) maintains proper pH balance. The pH of a cat’s urine can be checked, and a range of pH 6.0 to 6.5 is ideal. If you find that the urine pH is too alkaline, Vegecat phi™ is a good option to increase acidity.

Suggested recipes ship with the Vegecat™ supplement. All recipes require food yeast for B vitamins. We highly recommend using VegeYeast in the recipes but a locally sourced brewer’s yeast or nutritional yeast can be used as a substitute. Do not use baker’s yeast.

You might ask, “Don’t cats, as true carnivores need certain nutrients only flesh can provide?”

Vegecat™ products contain the below rare nutrients cats require from NON-ANIMAL sources.

Cats need dietary taurine (a secondary amino acid), but significant quantities only occur naturally in animal tissue. A shortage causes blindness and heart disease. Synthetic taurine is added to Vegecat™ and most other commercial food, as the naturally occurring taurine in meat-based food is cooked or processed out during production.

Through biosynthesis, most mammals make vitamin A from the yellow pigment (carotene) found in vegetables. Cats lack this ability, making a dietary source of this vitamin, found naturally only in animal tissues, essential. Vegecat™ contains preformed retinol vitamin A that is bioavailable to cats.

Vitamin D is another essential vitamin, found naturally only in animal tissues as vitamin D3. Vegecat™ contains vegan vitamin D2.

The essential fatty acid arachidonate is rare in non-animal sources. Cats require it for numerous vital metabolic processes including reproduction.
